There are plenty of myths and legends surrounding the best way to choose a board.
Here are some basic rules we use to help make the choice easier.
We've been using these rules for 15 years now and have thousands of satisfied customers.
1. Always buy the right size Board.
The top of the board should be within an inch of your belly button when lent on the floor. This means that the board will be floaty enough to hold you up in the water, and catch waves easily.
If the board's too small, you'll sink it !! If the board's too big it will be difficult to hold the nose comfortably,
therefore hard to control and turn.As a guide the following limits apply:
38" Boards - up to 5'4" / 7 stones
40" Boards - up to 5'7 / 10 stones
42" Boards - up to 6'0" / 14 stones
44" Boards - up to 6'4" / 17 stones
46" Boards - over 6'4" / 17 stones
The only exception to the rules above is for rapidly growing teenagers, who can go 2 inches bigger
to allow some growing space.
2. Always buy the best board you can afford !
Buying cheap can mean buying twice !!
Features such as Channels, Stringers and Polypro Cores may seem a bit over the top for learning, but as your ability level rises,
you will start to appreciate why they are there.
3. Don't buy with your eyes! Fancy graphics, favourite colours and sponsored riders names will not make you a better
bodyboarder or enhance the experience. If the best board for you only comes in blue - PLEASE buy a blue board. Remember -
when you go to sell it, purple is not everyones' favourite colour !!!4. Take some advice - ask a friend who already boards how they got on with their first board, maybe try theirs out.
Otherwise just call us - we've been riding and selling Bodyboards for longer than just about anyone in the UK.
We want you to enjoy the sport and come back for more.
